Irmon Gentry Obituary

Irmon Ray Gentry was born April 11, 1958, in Antoine, AR the oldest child of four siblings, to Normon and Roberta Gentry, Jr. He was in his 65th season of life. Irmon departed this life to be with our heavenly Father on March 22, 2024 at Sevier County Medical Center in DeQueen, AR.


Irmon, affectionately known as Ray, accepted Christ at an early age, joining his family at Church of Christ in Hot Springs, AR. He became a member of Roland Piggee Baptist Church in the small community of Graves Chapel, AR where he attended faithfully for numerous years.


Ray was a hardworking man, laboring all his life at several different jobs being the jack of all trades he was. His last endeavor was becoming a foster grandparent at Wee Center Preschool in DeQueen, AR. Ray loved children and they loved him, appreciating his funny and kind sense of humor. He loved sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a people person, enjoying making everyone laugh and brightening everyone’s day. He was a very family orientedperson and took the responsibility of being the eldest sibling serious. He loved his family.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Roberta Gentry, Jr.; brother, Tony Gentry; daughter, Shanika Martin (Marcus); grandson, Darrius Martin and niece, Lakesha “Kesha” Gentry.


Those left to remember his love and legacy include: one son, Raylon Hubbard, of Pine Bluff, AR; one daughter, Natasha Leeper, of Flint, MI; three brothers, Bobby Charles Gentry (Pat), of Springfield, MA, Bobby Ray Gentry (Inez), of McNabb, AR, and Claude D. Gentry (Marcia), of Antoine, AR; two sisters, Pamela Holloway (Claude), of MS, and Carolyn Bell (Steven), of Lockesburg, AR; special friend, Donna Porter, of Washington, AR; one Uncle, Troy Gentry (Shirley), of Antoine, AR; one Aunt, Ola Sue Pearson, of MI; six grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. 


Funeral services are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, AR. Visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2024, at Mitchell Funeral Home from 12 noon-6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Dodson St. Church of Christ in Nashville, AR. Interment will be in Hareison Chapel Cemetery
